Buenos Aires, November 22 (NA) – The new Minister of Security, Alejandra Monteoliva, served as the number two to Patricia Bullrich until this Saturday and plans to continue her line at the head of the portfolio.
Monteoliva, until today Secretary of Security, was the natural replacement for Bullrich and the chosen one of the now former minister to replace her at the Ministry, learned the Argentine News Agency.
This choice by President Javier Mieli demonstrates that Bullrich won the power struggle to place someone she trusts in Security, without losing influence in the area where she had arrived on December 10, 2023.
The now-designated minister had assumed the Secretariat of Security in June 2024, following the departure of Vicente Ventura.
With nearly 30 years of experience in public management, Monteoliva is a graduate of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations of the Catholic University of Córdoba, with a Master's in Planning and Development Management from the University of Los Andes, in Colombia.
Throughout her career, she has specialized in the management of security policies and has worked in most of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean through the IDB, the CAF, and other multilateral organizations.
She was an official of the Government of Córdoba in the Ministry of Security between 2011 and 2013, and also National Director of Security Operations during Bullrich's previous administration, between 2015 and 2019, during the government of Mauricio Macri.
Also, between 2020 and 2024, she was in charge of security operations as an advisor for the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and UNDP, with a destination in Central America.
